Žužemberk Castle is a medieval fortress located in the town of Žužemberk in central Slovenia, overlooking the Krka River. Originally built in the 13th century, it has been rebuilt and expanded over time, serving as a defensive stronghold and later as a noble residence. The castle is notable for its large rectangular layout with seven towers and a central courtyard. Although partly in ruins due to damage sustained during World War II, it remains an important cultural monument and a popular tourist site. Today, Žužemberk Castle hosts cultural events, concerts, and medieval-themed festivals, keeping its history alive while offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
